Mamey Sapote is a fruit that is technically a very large berry. Sweet like a combination of pumpkin, avocado and the Flavor of ripe mamey is very unique and has been described as having a touch of sweet potato, pumpkin, persimmons, with a hint of vanilla spice. Basically, you have to try it to believe how delicious it is! You can eat this fruit fresh raw or you can turn it into ice cream, milkshakes, smoothies, and fruit bars.
Mamey Sapote carries several polyphenolic antioxidant compounds like tannin. Tannins are a composite family of naturally occurring polyphenols. Research studies suggest that tannins possess astringent properties, and are shown to have potential anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-parasitic effects!
Mamey sapote is an excellent source of fiber, vit E, and vit C, B3, magnesium, iron, and potassium.
Mamey is also a powerful regulator of our nervous system, supports growth of healthy bones and teeth, helps boost reproductive health, reduces oxidative stress, great for your eyes, and alleviates PMS symptoms.
How To Know When Mamey Sapote Is Ripe:
Mamey must be extremely soft before opening. The color will become slightly darker but will not change much. Please be sure that your mamey is soft ALL over before opening.

Cut open and eat as is! We LOVE to put cinnamon on it as well!

Sweet Potato Pie Ice Cream
2 Frozen Bananas
1/2 Frozen Mamey Sapote
1 tsp Cinnamon
2 TBSP Hemp Seeds
Water or any nut milk of your choice
Place all ingredients in a high speed powered blender. Add just enough water or nut milk for things to move but be careful not to add too much! We are making ice cream, so it needs to be thick and creamy not watery.
